Do you use moisturiser on your toddlers face?

I’m talking about simple, gentle cream? DS is 4 and I use body moisturiser after every bath but somehow always forget about the face. Should i start using it? Obviously not like a proper skincare routine but here and there before heading outside or in the morning after face wash and brushing teeth. He doesn’t have any particular problems like dry skin or eczema.

Yes but only cos she has mild eczema- wouldn't bother otherwise

Not unless a skin problem as directed by a HCP. Absolutely unnecessary. Let their skin breathe. Face moisturiser on a 4 yo. Never heard anything like it.

I don't use any at all. DS age 6 gets very dry hands in the winter because he won't wear gloves, so we got some really good moisturiser from a chemist and we put that on his hands every day last year, but they don't seem to turf them outside as often at his current school so he hasn't had an issue this year yet.

Coconut oil head to toe on one year old

Wibblywobblybobbly · 20/01/2025 23:16

Hadn't occurred to me to put body moisturiser on them, let alone face. They have lovely soft skin.

ForZanyAquaViewer · 20/01/2025 23:18

Yup. Coconut oil, head to toe, since they were six weeks old.

We’re Black, though. Not moisturising isn’t an option.

Yes, but only because DS gets dry and flaky skin on cheeks. It was getting red and irritated. Discussed with pharmacist and now use a baby aqueous cream. It's sulphate free and very gentle. Probably only use it twice a week or so. If he didn't have this specific issue then I don't think I'd bother.
