Would I be mad to TTC with a 6 month baby?

My baby is just over 6 months. Am feeling broody and don't want a huge age gap... would it be mad to start TTC now? (No guarantees it would happen straight away obviously, and I'm not getting any younger). Anyone around with a small age gap?
Thanks!

feeling broody- i did it, and there's 16 mths between my boys. I underestimated how physically difficult it would be, to be heavily pregnant and chasing a toddler- that was very hard. But overall, i wouldn't say i regret it. Very hard work, but we're getting the sleepless, pushchair using, nappy wearing bit out of the way in one go.

oh, and if your current baby is very 'easy', don't assume the next will be- mine have very different personalities!

I have 2 DSs close together (17 months) and we actually started TTC when DS1 was 5 months old! It took a few months but It has been great and I wouldn't change a thing. DS1 was not jealous at all and they are thick as thieves and play very well together.

but would agree with tattooedgirl that the second pg was exhausting! None of the indulgent naps I enjoyed first time round!

ooh yes tattooedgirl, I'd second that - ds2 is much harder work than ds1, who slept like a dream from abut 6 months - we're still waiting for ds2 to get the hang of it at 15 months.

I'm hoping DC2 will be more dream like than DC1, who wasn't / isn't dream like at all in the sleep department.

My theory is that if you're going to do it at some point, just go for it and you'll manage. I thought that I would find it hard to 'get my life back' and then start again and preferred to just keep cracking on. This PG is very very tiring though but I do sleep when DC1 sleeps for her 2 hours in the day (I work from home, so I can manage that).

It's just a blip in time compared to the years and years of enjoyment you will get (she tells herself repeatedly).

Thanks again everyone and good luck with the new baby, 'Thank you and goodnight'!

I should say that my DD is a bad sleeper but adorable the rest of the time, that I am pretty fit and healthy and had an easy pregnancy last time, but I realize this one wouldnt be as easy. Thank you for the comments - now to decide whether to go for it!
