Baby waking up and feeling nervous about it

I've noticed since bringing my little one home that once they've gone to sleep. I begin to feel nervous about when they'll wake up.

Because their sleep times can be long or short at the moment (7 weeks old) I've found it hard to get anything done that's significant in between. Mainly because they either wake up whilst I'm in the middle of doing something or I feel too nervous to get up to do anything.

This has led to me locking into place and staying put, not wanting to move or do anything and just sit and wait to see if and when they wake up.

Only time this doesn't affect me is at night when both of us will be sleeping. I don't know why this affects me so much because so far they've been okay sleep wise during the day and I know roughly how long they'll sleep for.

Tbh that sounds very normal, you get into more of a routine in time but it's so changeable until their 6 months or so. I used to call that nighttime fear the sundown scaries. Best thing to do in the day is not start anything chore wise. Have a seat, read a book that can be easily put down, watch something you can just keep watching when they wake and feed. Try and chill.

I remember this with .my 1st, as he got older I even remember putting him to bed and I would not leave the living id make no sounds wouldn't even go to use the toilet! My 3rd child is now 3 and 1 thing I learnt is never to do that again, they do eventually get very used to noise I found my second would sleep better with things like the hair dryer or the hoover on.
I understand your feelings and think its completely normal however your baby will adjust to your movements and sounds. Dont make a rod for you own back, still time to change it.
If baby wakes they will be absolutely fine just laying there anyway.

Sounds quite normal. She/he will settle and so will you!

I used to get the thing I needed to do done as soon as they fell asleep, that way I had time after to relax and wait for them to wake up

You don’t have to get anything significant done while your baby sleeps, just sit and relax, do tiny quick jobs, or read a book, don’t stress yourself.
