Preschool advice

im based in Ireland and have a little boy just gone three in January. This makes him eligible to go to preschool this September (3 and 9 months) . The health visitor said it would be good for him to be in playschool before this for the social aspect. I have somewhere for him (not the place he will be going in September unfortunately ) that will take him two days a week. The kids are slightly older , ranging more from 3 and a half to almost four. I’m very conflicted and feel scared to let him go and get settled in this place to then move him in September . They don’t have any spaces . I feel like waiting until September might hold him a back . Any advice

I don't think it's worth him settling in for less than 2 terms. Keep him home but take him to some group activities where he can socialise a bit, and also learn to focus on an adult led activity (eg. Rhyme times, music group, story time at library).

If you don't have much family and he doesn't have siblings then try to arrange some playdates for him to play with other kids. Allow them to play together while you chat to parent, rather than being too adult led and intervening all the time. At this age the social aspect is really important, learning how to play with other children.
