Help after babys 4 month vaccines

Hi everyone, so my DD is 19 weeks old and got her 4 month jabs on tuesday. It's now friday night and she's been sooo unsettled. The only thing that helps is calpol, the day of the vaccines she got 3 doses, then once last night and once tonight. So we're obviously not pumping her full of calpol but I hate giving it at all unless really needed. She screams bloody murder when we try get her asleep, which isn't like her. And when she does fall asleep, it's not for long. She still has been sleeping her usual 6-8 hour stretches at night though, just naps are all over the place. Sometimes it's her usual 2 hour naps, sometimes it's 20 minutes.

She's also teething and we try teething gels/sachets first and they don't help at all. Teething chews also dont help. I hate giving her medication, can vaccine side effects last this long?? It's been 3 and 1/2 days since the jabs. No fever or anything just very screamy/fussy. She's exhausted but something is clearly bothering her. I wish she could just talk and tell me what it is! I hate this guessing game.

How long can side effects last? I don't remember her being like this after her first jabs.

Why do you hate giving her medication. If I’m in pain, I take medication to stop it. Why would you deprive her of that? If calpol makes her more settled, use it!

You're definitely right, I just get paranoid after reading the box and it saying not to give it for more than 3 days consecutively. I don't want to give it to her just in case it's not pain, but if I knew 100% that she was in pain I'd give it no problem. I have no idea if it's the vaccines, her teeth or if it's the 4 month sleep regression.

I hate not knowing exactly what's wrong with her! Makes me feel like a shitty parent :(

It will last about 48 hours. Give calpol and stop being dramatic about it.

It's been more than 48 hours though? Its been 3 and a half days

I believe the 3 days is more of if you need to use calpol for more than 3 days for fever or pain then you should go to GP to find the cause of the pain/fever. It's different if the pain is caused by vaccines or teething.
Also some parents are giving babies calpol every night in the hopes that they'd sleep better- so a warning on the box is to try stop that also.

If the calpol is helping then it must be pain that's making her unsettled.
My LO was extremely unsettled for about a week after the first vaccines the second ones weren't as bad but every baby is different.

Hope she settles for you soon

You've been a big help thank you! That makes sense that if you don't know the cause of the pain then the calpol shouldn't be used for multiple days without a dr check. I'm certain it's eithe teething and/or the vaccines. I just overthink and panic about potentially giving it unnecessarily, I'm mindful of the 4 month sleeo regression maybe starting soon. I'll give her a week like your LO to see if the pain settles.

Thank you again for the help, and I hope she's settles soon too. Woke up screaming an hour after she was put down to sleep which is so unlike her. Nothing a quick feed and cuddle didn't fix though.
