Newborn baby given wrong dummy

My 7 week year old was given a wrong dummy and given my 1 year old nephews by mistake.
It wasn't in his mouth long and was a-lot bigger so was hanging out of his mouth when i saw it.
My nephew has recently had a cold and im panicking that not only will my son get that but anything else.
Will my son be really poorly?

It'll be fine

No I really doubt it.

Unlikely. Babies do get colds and other bugs, it's normal and they generally cope quite well.

If your child is around people he will likely pick up illnesses. Especially this time
of year

I left dsis in a room with her 18 month old and my 3 day old baby while I made a cup of tea came back to baby with dn dummy in and biscuit crumbs everywhere (dn have wanted to share). No issues apart from dsis being annoyed with me for asking her to keep a closer eye infuture.

At 6 weeks they’re no longer considered to be a new born. Children have on average 8 colds a year. If your nephew has had a cold and is nolonger unwell he isn’t going to be catching that one but it’s winter and he will probably be getting a one soon. Keeping children in overly clean environments has been linked to later developing autoimme diseases.

If he was within breathing distance of your nephew and in any way touched by anyone who had touched your nephew then he has as much chance of catching a cold as he would have done if he hadn't been given the dummy.

Germs travel and it's that time of year when it's pretty impossible to avoid a cold, all you can do is respond if he gets poorly.

Saline spray for a blocked nose, mucous sucker for a runny nose, plug in menthol thing as a decongestant, lots of cuddles and milk whenever they want it, sleeping on your chest so their head is raised which makes it easier to breathe through the mucus.
