My daughter is 8 years old, myself and her Dad split in September and she is split between us 50:50 approx.
she obviously has wobbles and has recently said how she wishes we were back together. We are amicable enough right now and I’ve explained that I still care about daddy but things aren’t the same now etc.
Since Christmas she has really struggled to get to sleep. Once she is asleep, she is ok but I’ve found I’ve needed to sit with her until she is asleep but I don’t want to create a habit we struggle to break. However, I also acknowledge how difficult it must be because my sleep has also been affected since the break up but mainly when I miss her etc.
does anyone else have any advice or support etc ?
Anything at all

this is a normal reaction, parental split is hard for the children and I’m still going throughout many years post separation and divorce. Try to be as reassuring as you can and maybe explore support for your DD such as play therapy via school? Also are you able to engage with a therapist yourself to help you navigate? Do not think it’s unusual or feel guilty, you split up for a reason and things like this are hard but ultimately you made a decision for better future. Sending you hugs.

This was so nice to read as honestly I blame myself all the time for being the cause of her upset but it’s in fleeting moments.
she is a really good kid and I’m going to try and make sure we spend quality time together when it’s us so she still feels like I’m ok etc.
