Working parent guilt and how to cope?

My husband is really into cars, so we listened to this podcast called Fuelling Around, where Russell Kane was a guest. He was discussing how important it was to get as much time as possible with his daughter - he'll drive home really late from a gig just so he can make sure he's there when she wakes up.

As a parent who does have to work late sometimes, I can really relate to that desperate want to make it up to them as much as possible. Wondering if anyone has some positive words/advice for those, like me, who are feeling that guilt?

Incase anyone was curious

My parents both worked long hours (doctors in the Eastern block - we didn't have the concept of SAHM) and I love them both very much! So does my brother

Don't waste time or energy on guilt for a start. You're working, not running a criminal gang.

Make the effort to be very present when you are home - meals around the table, phone away, walks etc.

But mostly don't overthink it. Parenting is so much "more" than it ever used to be, we need to have realistic expectations.

I try not to have any guilt. We need two salaries to pay our bills and what’s left over gives our child opportunities. We use an excellent nursery they love. They spend lots of time with both or one of us
