Swim nappy for 0-3 months

DH and I want to take our baby swimming this weekend for the first time, but I'm having problems finding a swim nappy.

The Huggies ones only seem to go from 16lbs but our DS is only 10lbs. I bought a Mothercare washable one for 0-6 months but I'm concerned that it is a bit loose around the legs as he's a fairly thin long baby rather than too chubby.

Any other suggestions for a swim nappy to properly fit a 10lber that can be bought in a supermarket or other high street / department store? I'd prefer to go for a reusable one but happy to go for disposables if they are the best fit.

I was thinking we may have to abandon this weekend's plan and order from the internet instead so any help greatly appreciated.

Check on eBay, or www.thenappysite.co.uk for second hand - they grow out of them so quick, you may pick up a good swim nappy here. I've only just managed to go swimming with DS at 8 months ; we're using a Konfidence swim nappy plus cover and a babywarma suit to keep him warm (and help me hang onto him!), all got via eBay.

I've got a washable one which has velcro and a tie front so it is easily adjustable around legs/waist - Kushies, I think.

Waitrose sell 'em I'm sure of it

I have been using the Huggies ones since DS was tiny around 10lbish. They are fine, but I also use one of those Happy Nappys on top ( we have to double nappy as it is in a swimming class)

Thanks guys! We'll go and call in at Waitrose which isn't too far away and then if we have no joy we'll leave it until next weekend and I'll get one off the web.

Numptymum - I like the sound of the babywarma! Do they make them in adult sizes?

I use Boots own cloth swim nappy & its fine. Never had any problems with it.

Looking ahead to post 3 months swimming this one-size konfidence swim nappy has served us well. It fitted both my DDs who are 2 years apart and was very versatile as it could be used as a pull up or put on flat like a normal nappy.

Enjoy your swimming, it's a great idea to get them swimming early - I started DD1 at 12 months and DD2 at about 4 months and DD2 is far more confident and started swimming on her own at the same time as her sister who is 2 years older. You can get baby shorty wetsuits like this on eBay - they are much warmer than the vest type and they pay for themselves really as you can stay in the pool for longer - as soon as we got one for our DDs they enjoyed swimming a lot more - before that we had to get out after 30 mins becasue they were too cold.
