11 month old eating books and cardboard

My 11 month old daughter is constantly eating paper and cardboard - you basically can’t leave a book near her without finding chunks taken out of it and I’m always picking bits of cardboard box out of her mouth. I know babies like putting things in their mouths and she’s probably teething but I don’t remember my older daughter actually gnawing on things to this extent, just mouthing them. It’s like living with an hamster! Anyone else’s child done this?

keep an eye on her
dont leave her with a book
i am sure she will grow out of it Grin

Probably just a phase, could be pica though. I'd ask the GP about it so they can check there's nothing she's deficient in.

More than likely, with your older one, you were more on top of not leaving things around. I’d just give her some safe teething toys and take the books and cardboard away. Some babies just explore more.

Give her more teething toys.
Give her food with a similar texture - ryvita or shredded wheat maybe?!

Lastly consider blood tests if she's actually eating it and not just chewing it
