Me and DH have a 12 year old DD and after such a long time of struggling to conceive now have a 12 week old DS. Last night I tested positive on a pregnancy test so am really freaking out! Will we cope? Will our eldest DD be ok as the baby was already a big adjustment after such a long period of being a only child. We dont have any family support locally and I do worry how we will cope? Is two under two as hard as I am imagining?

Yes, I would imagine it’ll be supper hard (sorry!) but also kind of amazing if you can cope? Only you will know the answer etc… is the house big enough? Can you afford it etc?

There's lots of positives about having a small gap. You'll get the stages like sleepless nights and nappies over quite quickly and they should be close. Plus they'll be interested in doing similar activities for longer. I can imagine entertaining a 14 yo and a 2 yo will be very different to entertaining a 5 yo and a 6 yo.

I had my sons 15 months apart and have never regretted the small age gap. Yes there were 2 solid years of nappies and bottles but now they are 7 and 8 and have been close since they were toddlers. You can do this 😊

You'll be shattered, it'll be fine. Make sure DD has a quiet space of her own and noise cancelling headphones so she can study especially when her GCSEs / A level time and that inquisitive pre-schoolers aren't interrupting her.
