Feeling massive mum guilt

Im a single parent and have had my little one for the past seven days. We've done loads of fun things but TV has been on more than normal in afternoon, so I can get things done.

Today is a wash out! Weather is awful and I have so much to get done before back to work tomorrow. My little one is four and feel so guilty for not taking her out. (If it wasn't raining we'd go to the park) we did a fun yoga video earlier and am going to do some crafts once I've done the usual washing/cleaning etc etc

Not sure of the point of this post, but wondered if anyone else is having a TV day! I just feel so guilty when she's in front of the screen a lot, but also need to get things done.

Let’s get this straight, your child is loved, safe, fed and watches a bit of tv when you’re busy. What’s the actual problem?
Ease up on the unnecessary guilt. Kids want love, security, certainty she’s getting all that

We have spent quite a lot of the Christmas break like this! DS is 5 and loves staying at home, playing games, playing with all his new toys. No guilt at all. He's back to school on Tuesday and life will return to its normal level of busyness.

It’s winter in the U.K. stop beating yourself up.

Making sure you read to them every day and they don’t get too much UPF, if you’re doing that and they have hot water, a bed and a roof over their heads they are doing better than many across the world.

Don’t get caught up in performative parenting. It’s exhausting and damaging.

Thank you @Zone2NorthLondon @mynameiscalypso @PlopSofa I think not having a partner to chat these things over with you can get stuck in your own head! All really great points, thank you xxx

its a tough gig being a mum,you feel (and are) judged by society and everyone else

Same story over here!

If you weren't a good mum you wouldn't be thinking like this.

I love my child but roll on normal routines again! Also, I have learnt this holiday that she likes being at home more than I appreciate. I often have us up and out somewhere but she's enjoyed her toys etc xxxx

Yes this is perfectly put. You're doing great! Enjoy the last day off together guilt free!

I think after a long stretch and the weather being terrible this is pretty normal.

It's winter in the UK.

FWIW I am looking forward to an afternoon watching Where Eagles Dare as I have so many happy memories of watching the Saturday afternoon war film on TV with my parents.

A TV day on a wet cold January weekend is still making memories.

Mine were raised this way and I have a Bank Manager, Senior Manager, NHS Senior Manager and BA Qualified Artist. Sometimes they just need some downtime!
It'll be fine!
