5 year old soft play birthday

We are toying with the idea of a soft play birthday party for our 5 year old.

We did it last year when he was at nursery and he loved it, but now he’s at school Im unsure if it’s acceptable to only invite the 10 or so kids he wants or if we are expected to invite the whole class.

The price difference would be huge!

So it looks like there’s 29 of them in class and we’d invite 10.

Yeah it's fine to just invite the 10.
It's not fine to invite 28 out of 30 but anything else is great.

We invited the whole class because we thought that was the done thing, and we spent a fortune , she got invited to about ten parties in reception.

It would be extortionate if we invited the whole class to this soft play unfortunately!

He has been to a handful of birthdays since he started reception and none were whole class, but they were mostly at people’s homes.

DS is 5 - several children in his class had birthday parties last term that DS did not get invited to. DS recently went to a soft play party where there were 12 children in the party room and he went to a bouncy castle party where most of the invitees were from the nursery room they were all in last year so I'd say it's fine not to do a whole class party. A soft play party for the whole class would be expensive where I live as the cheapest package is £12.50 per child.

A smaller number is fine, though I’d say whole class parties are the norm in reception. That said, be mindful that if you invite 10, you may get 6.
