First half-term as a solo parent

I’ve just had my first taste of half-term as my kid started school September 2024. I have to say I am absolutely drained and anxious about all the other half-terms to come! I cannot believe there are at least 10 weeks of no school! I work full-time but was able to take two weeks (minus Xmas days and Bh’s) as working from home and my god I am so drained. Do you find that holiday clubs help? I need space and my kid is so clingy to me even if we are sat on the same sofa! We had a 4 day mini break and spent time with family and she would not leave me alone for a second! I’m currently sat in my bed crying after shouting at her to leave me alone and play in her room! Sorry for the mixed post I’m just so drained and exhausted and over it!

Yes of you have t got a DGP, CM or Nursery who are willing to do some holidays got you then it has to be Holiday Clubs. You can't cover all of the holidays alone alone and work Flowers

Holiday clubs 100%! If she's clingy, maybe show her the options of clubs well in advance and decide on it, talk about it lots on the run up (what she's excited about etc). DS is 5 and loves them - much more fun than staying home with mum 😂

Something else I find helps is find other parents to swap days with. I have 2 other mums from DS swimming and we'll each take 1 day per break to have all 3 as a play date/childcare.
