4 year old loud snoring. Should I insist on ENT referral?

Do I?

In the last couple of months I noticed that my 4y DS is snoring really loud at night and has trouble breathing through his nose and always sounds congested even if he doesn’t have a cold. Sometimes he’s also have a coughing fit due to this. Can’t tell you exactly when it started but when we went away in September on holidays my mum also asked me if he’s always snoring this loud.
Also he sometimes breathing very loud during daytime.

Went to to the GP twice. Felt like every time I was dismissed as a “overly anxious mum”, basically told me that’s normal, kids will get sick all the time. I know that! But his not sick and struggling to breath when he’s ok.
When the snoring continued went back second time. He checked his chest, ears, fine. No polyps in the nose but his tonsils were a bit enlarged but not to the point he would worry, lots of kids have them. Asked if he has trouble during day time - like falling asleep, feeling tired, not able to concentrate, having tantrums due to lack of sleep during the night. But DS is totally fine during day. No problems or changes at all. Was sent home with the same - kids get sick, try to elevate his pillow at night, use saline spray etc. ITS NOT WORKING!

So now I’m considering calling on Monday and asking for a ENT referral because I feel like it’s not normal to snore this loud, and he is very loud! And feeling congested all the time at night and having trouble to breath through his noise even when he’s not ill.

My 5 yo had this. She also failed her hearing test at school. She was referred and her adenoids were so big they had to be removed. She is fine now.

Yes. My son was similar and had his adenoids and tonsils out which was life changing.
Everyone thought I was making a mountain out of a molehill until one paediatrician took me seriously and said that a 2 year old shouldn't snore like that. A sleep study before surgery showed that his oxygen sats were dropping significantly multiple times every night.

I had the same symptoms as your son when I was four and got my adenoids removed. All was fine after that.
