Is this normal baby behaviour?

FTM to a 3 month and 1 week old boy. For a while now, he's been having these "events" and I'm worried it's abnormal behaviour as he seems quite intense and almost panicky.

He will start to kick his legs one by one, stiffen slightly, make small agitated sounds with his hands held out a little which almost look like they're shaking. His expression looks stressed. He makes jerky movements.

I don't think it's overstimulation as he can just be chilling in his rocker. He seems present so I don't think it's a seizure either.

After he just go back to normal.

Does anyone else's baby do this? Like I say he seems quite intense when he does this and it worries me as it doesn't seem right.

This sounds like what happened to my daughter, she was about 2.5 months old. She would be absolutely fine & as soon as I put her on her back she would become stiff have a very unusual cry & have jolting movements it really scared me I took her a&e & they said it was reflux!!! But obviously I'm no doctor if your worried get it checked out to be on the safe side

What a relief to hear this is a reflux symptom! We know he has silent reflux so I guess that explains it.
Thank you 😊

Video him when he does it and take it to the Gp. You need medical advice not mumsnet advice.

DD used to do that - it was silent reflux for her too.

make a GP appointment to get it checked out. It could be reflux but better to get proper medical advice.

Well, @Henachoko I'm afraid that it sounds very much like a mild fit/convulsion to me. They are quite often brought on in babies who haven't yet developed a fully working temperature control system. Many babies and young children grow out of these "Febrile" Convulsions as they grow older.

If your child is suffering from some sort of fit, he or she needs to be diagnosed by a Doctor asap, as although quite frequent, it is not normal for a baby to have fits of any kind. As babies having fits need careful monitoring, it is very important to take your baby to see a GP, but only if you can get in very quickly to see one! If you can't get an immediate urgent GP's appointment, please take your baby to some sort of urgent care facility, or failing that, I am afraid that it needs to be a trip to A&E. As a PP advised, please video your child during their next shaking episode if it happens before you can get them to see a medic. Good luck with getting this sorted quickly OP.

I didn't think it was seizures as he is present during them and they didn't look like those I saw online when searching but these replies got me paranoid so I saw the GP. I had already taken a few videos. DR said they are normal baby movements and nothing to be worried about.
