Grown out of Moses Basket - 8 weeks old

Hello,

I'm just wondering if anyone has used a Travel Cot for baby to sleep during night time beside them? My son is 8 weeks old and is very almost touching both ends of the moses basket - won't be long before he will be too big for it as he's a very long boy!! He sleeps so well in his basket too, but is still waking once throughout the night for a feed.

People have mentioned about maybe letting him sleep in his cotbed in his bedroom (it's right beside our bedroom) with both doors open and baby monitor being used. We did do that with our eldest child, when she turned 5 months old, as she was sleeping through the night by that stage.

Personally I think 8 weeks is way too early to consider that, I'd feel more at ease that he is with us during night time... I wouldn't have room for a crib/cot within our bedroom but do have a travel cot.

Will a next to me crib fit? You can get them at a reasonable price second hand, just need to buy a new mattress.

It doesn't matter if he touches the sides of the basket. It's wright and rolling that's important. Just keep going with the basket a bit longer

My little boy stayed in his next to me crib for around 6-7 months. They are bigger than a Moses basket. I wouldn’t put baby in own room due to risk of SIDs, the lullaby trust website has more info.

I would go and get a next to me.

I co slept from birth practically and then I bought this because she didn’t like her noses basket and she was in it until she was like 9/10 months old until she could stand herself up In it practically and I loved it wouldn’t go for a Moses basket if I had another baby. I’d go straight for next to Me

We did this with our enormous baby who was too big for the basket at 6 weeks.

Personally I wouldn’t put my DS in his own room at 8 weeks. Everyone’s risk assessment is different though. I guess I was quite anxious about Sids. My friend actually did that though, moved her dd at about 8-10 weeks.

We got a next2me which DS (on the 90th percentile) lasted in until he was 8 months old. He then went into a cot in the next room.

I understand if you don’t want to buy another thing though. Do you have a carry cot for your pushchair and is that any bigger/longer than the Moses? It could possibly sit on the Moses stand as a stand in. They apparently tend to last until the baby is 4-6months old but in my experience with a big baby he outgrew his by 3-4 months old. It could give you the extra few months though of use?
