Concerns around 10 month old’s development

My DD has just turned 10 months. She does not babble but is very vocal with vowel sounds and does a sort of ‘a a a’ sound to get your attention when she wants something. She blows raspberries and makes a sort of ‘v’ sound but no ‘mama, baba, dada’ etc.
She has just started to clap and literally this morning has started to work out waving.
She has zero interest in pulling herself up but can nearly crawl on hands and knees and get to where she wants to go.
She is a very smiley, social baby on the whole.

A lot of my concern comes from the fact I have a 2.5 DS on the ASD pathway who is severely speech delayed so am perhaps hyper vigilant / always on alert observing. I did raise it with the HV at her 9M review but they have simply said they will review her at 12M (although there has been lots of progress in her all round development since that review to be fair). I also feel lots of guilt as DS understandably takes up a lot of our time and DD perhaps gets the shorter straw. My mum died 11 days after DD was born so it’s taken me a little while to be able to do things like baby groups etc with her but she has now started a baby signing group in November and will be starting nursery two days a week from next week.

I just wondered what other people’s experiences were and if they could offer any advice to get them babbling! Thank you if you read all the way through!

Please remember the massive variability in the development of babies. One of mine barely spoke till age 2 - but has a degree and a high-powered job now.

She sounds very similar to my DD. Screeched all the time but no babbling until just after her 1st birthday. She waved, clapped and pointed before 1. She also didn’t pull to stand until just after her 1st birthday as well.

Shes a very bright 4.5 year old now.

Re advice.. not really sure, my DD’s babbling just came out of nowhere! She’ll do it when she’s ready 😊

Sorry for your loss OP

Don't waste the magic of this age away by worrying about it. She sounds fine and there's massive variability. My baby didn't sit till 9 months old!

Very sorry for the loss of your mum OP. That must've been incredibly hard, especially so soon after the birth of your DD.

DD (8) was an early talker but very slow on all her physical milestones. Can't remember exactly when she sat/crawled but she was late with both and about 22 months before she finally walked. She was fine, just a lazy baby. She still doesn't move a lot now 😂

At 10 months that all sounds very normal. Ds was 7 months before he could sit. 11.5 months before he could crawl and 12 months when he started to walk, I think he only crawled to get to the sofa so he could pull up and cruise. I was so worrried as he was my first He also didn't say anything till 12 months and once he started you couldn't stop him. When he started school his speech and vocabulary were very good, he was an early reader etc. I reckon he juat sat and watched everything for the first year. He is now 15, getting high grades at school, an accomplished swimmer and guitar player and generally very able, finds lots of things easy. Every baby does things in a different order. I wouldn't worry at 10 months.
