When should a child start picking up dog poo

I get that this probably varies massively child to child, but I am just curious as to what the general consensus is regarding when they are old enough to start. For context my daughter will sometimes walk the dog and pick up after it, but I am just curious to see other people's viewpoints on this.

My son got his own dog at the age of 13 years old. I did accept it was still my responsibility, especially as he was at boarding school, but when he was home we walked the dogs together and he was responsible for picking up after his own dog. As a young teenager, he would definitely avoid that responsibility whenever he thought he could get away with it, so if I wasn't looking he would kick it into a hedge rather than carry it home. I did have to get strict with him sometimes as I always told him that the dog was his, and his responsibility whenever he was at home. He adored the dog so he did try his best most of the time.

If she’s out walking the dog by herself, then she picks the poo up.

Around 10 I reckon, maybe a little younger. We've got a small dog and it's quite easy. My kids are capable but they'd rather not. In our family it's just who is standing nearest with the bags who picks up. Not a big deal.

While walking dog alone? 14+ dependent upon the relative strength and size of my child to the dog we had at the time, and how level-headed my child was under pressure/in a crisis. But possibly not until 16.

At home, I'd consider it to be one of those chores we all take some responsibility for (from about 12 years on), just to teach them what appropriate and responsible pet care really entails (like cleaning out the rabbits and gerbils), but I wouldn't make it 'their' job alone and it'd be with a pooper scooper etc.
