Hey guys, my 2 year old DS has been unwell with a viral infection and tonsillitis in the last few weeks but that’s better now. Since last night he’s been itching himself a lot and he has a nappy rash too. While asleep last night he kept itching his head, his arms and his stomach. Since this morning he’s been so itchy too. When I changed his nappy not long ago the nappy rash is still bad but I noticed that his stomach is red, his whole back, the tops of his arms and he’s itching his head so much. He’s itching his feet too. It kinda looks like hives to me, maybe it’s a viral rash? I called the GP who said they don’t have an appointment till next week! My poor baby is so uncomfortable and he’s itching his face now too 🥺 shall we take him to the hospital?

Have you got any piriton? Or could you get some as that will help with the itching and may bring down the rash if it is hive like.

I second trying piriton although you'd need to find a chemist if you don't have any in the house

BackinBlack24 · 26/12/2024 14:50

Try cooling them down strip them off , too hot won't help the itch . Have you any aloe Vera gel in the house? Also what bothers have said an antihistamine for that age will help the itch. Have you done a glass test ?

Growsomeballswoman · 26/12/2024 14:57

Piriton should help. Does the rash disappear under a glass?

dreamerkr · 26/12/2024 15:08

Yes it disappears under a glass. I’ve sent my husband to get some Piriton now.

Wet cloth gently draped on the itchy areas will cool him down and relieve the itch. Instant relief for a short while. I'm in the same boat - it's hell!!

He has a fever too, we took him to the OOH doctor who checked him and said it’s a viral rash which makes sense because DS and the whole family has had a viral infection. Any idea how long it takes a viral rash to go away? It’s so uncomfortable for him 🥺

Okay yesterday the rash had almost disappeared and he was a lot less itchy. However since the last hour or so he’s really itchy again and I touched his back while he’s asleep and itching himself so much, and the rash seems to be back 🥺 2 weeks ago he was in hospital with a viral infection, tonsillitis and viral wheeze, the doctor prescribed the brown inhaler to him. I just realised that we didn’t give it to him the day before yesterday but he again had a dose of the brown inhaler last night and now he has a rash again? Could this be causing the rash?! I don’t think it’s a coincidence? The OOH doctor the other day did ask if he’s taking any new medication but this is the only new one he’s been taking? He doesn’t have any problems with the blue inhaler but ever since he’s started taking the brown one, he broke out with a bad bad nappy rash which now seems to have spread all over. Poor guy 🥺 I don’t think I’m going to be giving him his brown inhaler in the next few days.

My DS gets hives and rashes after virus infections. They come and go for days. I keep up with the piriton for days after.
