DD is 11 and in Y6 primary school. As a single parent with no family close by I'm starting to think about what we will do over the summer holidays next year and then the school holidays when she's in Y12. What do other parents do? I work and my holidays obviously don't work the school hols.

I used to get them booked into as many summer camps as I could. The gov website has a search engine to search what ones are on near you. If you're interested in a residential one, there are loads of options. This one is specifically for kids who have never attended a residential summer camp before and does a variety of activities, but there are camps geared around specific interests too (eg: football, gymnastics etc) Tryout Camps Summer fun for kids for less! — Summer Camps Trust

We've done summer camps too, although she hasn't done any residential ones. There are loads available in our area so we're lucky, though they're not cheap, but dd was used to going and happy to continue, especially as her sister goes too. Some of them only run 10-3 though, I manage as I run my own business. There are cheaper ones run locally by the council.
