Toddler cant keep food down

My 2.5 year old has vomited about 30 minutes later every time he's eaten today.
This is our first sickness bug as parents. He's asking for food but is there any point in giving him food if he's going to just bring it back up?!

Do a rehydration challenge 5ml squash every few mins see if he can keep that down first.

All he drinks is water or milk, he's very fussy. He has been drinking all day.

I'd offer clear fluid only overnight then try some plain food in the morning, he might be confusing nausea with hunger.

When DS had a 5 day sick bug the GP said if he wants to eat plain food let him a it's better to be sick on a full stomach.

Diarrhoea now 😐

What food has he been eating?

Ideally you want really plain stuff, crackers, bread, stuff like that and in small amounts.

He had cheerios for breakfast before we knew he was ill, a bagel later on and toast

I'd avoid milk until the sickness has stopped, lots of sips of water and only v small amounts of plain food as PP have said. It doesn't matter if he doesn't eat much for a few days but staying hydrated is really important. You could also make up some dioralyte.

All day yesterday no vomiting and a solid poo in the morning, ate lightly buttered toast, cream crackers, a little mashed potato, and then at about midnight he was sick in his bed 😭.

how long did your child take to get better? Mines the same not eating properly and coming out of both ends, all he wants to do is sleep

About 4 nights of being sick in bed but fine during the day and a week of diarrhoea.
