My son woke up at 11.30am and vomited all his dinner out. He then kept vomiting every hour and complains of tummy pain before vomiting. The vomit is green/yellowish as I guess he hasn’t eaten anything since vomiting. It is now 4am and I can’t sleep thinking he will wake up and be sick again. He’s only had the sickness bug once when he was 1.5 years he is now 4.5 years and goes school
so most likely picked something from there. Does he need to be taken to doctors or would it just get better in a few days? What are the odds of me and my husband getting it aswell just before Christmas? 😭

Please don’t take him to the drs with a highly contagious sickness bug …..
it’s possibly noro as it’s going the rounds .. or another bug .. however if he doesn’t have an abnormally high temperature and isn’t vomiting or passing diarrhoea so bad that he’s become dehydrated then the best place for him is home .
As far as you and your DH getting it .. it’s hard to say .. the odds are high as sickness bugs are very contagious I’m afraid 😟

i am trying to give him fluids he has managed to finally fall asleep so fingers crossed he will be okay now. It’s just he hasn’t had a lot of sickness bugs so just got me really worried seeing him throw up so much :(. I am washing hands constantly and trying to keep vomiting place sanitised so fingers crossed

It becomes airborne then settles and lives on surfaces for a long time (about a week), so the spread is through touching it and it getting to your mouth.. so keep all contact surfaces clean with bleach, door handles, toilet flush handle, banister etc, any surface really but contact surfaces especially.

Shut the door of the room he's in to limit the airborne spread. Everyone wash their hands often and definitely before eating/cleaning your teeth. Keep your tooth brushes covered. Same with food, don't eat fruit that's out in a fruit bowl without washing it.

How's he doing op?

It's fluids that are key here are at his age ice lolly's are a great one, and my GP told us on the other side of being sick flat Coke or lemonade to get sugars up.

He is asleep and been an hour since he has thrown up so fingers crossed. He was very fidgety since 11.30 and kept complaining of tummy pain but now is sleeping soundly so fingers crossed. I was giving him water regularly to keep the fluid intake. I did notice a little bit of pinky/light redness in his last vomit but I am not sure. I did speak to 111 and they said doctor will call in 2-3 hours. Fingers crossed he doesn’t throw up again

Oh bless him.

Fingers crossed it's just a quick bug and it will be gone sooner for him. And luckily pre Christmas!

I always found my boys were pretty resilient and bunched back after 24 hours.

I spoke to 111 and they said to bring him in as he has had a uti in the past week they want to make sure it’s not related to that, he is sleeping at the moment. I will just give him an hour more sleep because he hasn’t slept at all bless him and then will take him to ae to get checked out

That's good, it could be linked to the UTI or did he start any antibiotics?

Hope you don't have a long wait.

He has been on antibiotics since 5 days now I feel it might be related to that because he gets stomach cramps and then throws up. He is still sleeping been nearly 2 hours he hasn’t thrown up thankfully

Poor lad - bad timing! The anti biotics will wipe out his gut flora just when he gets a tummy bug too.
Once he's through the vomiting stage would be good to get his tummy right again with pro /pre biotics for strong recovery.

Let's hope he's feeling better for Xmas and you dodge it. 🙏

If it’s noro, be prepared for him to feel rubbish for a good 4-6 weeks. It took that long for me to be able to eat normally again.
It was like my stomach had been absolutely wrecked and couldn’t tolerate anything for ages. I also felt like I’d had a bout of flu, that awful malaise feeling lasted for ages.

Honestly, I think I’d rather die than go through that again!

I know right! Yes definitely will give probiotics once he feels well, he is a little better but still has tummy pain. But is able to keep water down so hopefully will get better soon

The gp said could just be a normal stomach bug so hoping it’s not nora 🤞
