Preschoolers and toothpicks

Ok, inane question time.

Preschool (age 2-5) party tomorrow. Everyone has been assigned food to bring. I have cheese and pineapple. Do I stick chunks on toothpicks 80s style? Are toothpicks suitable for that age? I don’t think they are particularly, but maybe I’m being precious? Children will be accompanied by a parent, if that makes a difference! If I shouldn’t use toothpicks, should I just pile it on a plate?

Yes, I’m overthinking this. Someone tell me what to do!

I don't think toothpicks would be a good idea.

Small squares might also be a choking hazard, maybe make them a bit larger than normal

Ah, good point. Cheese batons I reckon.

I think they’d be fine. I did cheese cherry pineapple for my eldest’s 1st birthday. No babies were damaged. A preschooler can certainly chew a square of cheese. And parents can supervise the toothpicks. Sounds totally fine to me.
