How to get baby to nap during the day

My 14 week old baby sleeps relatively well at nighttime, usually only waking once during the night. We do a nighttime routine and he sleeps with white noise. However during the day he only sleeps for 20 mins max (usually on me / car seat or pram) and that's every 2-3 hours, so he's definitely not getting enough sleep in the day according to what I have read. I can only get him to sleep for longer stretches when we are on a walk, as I just keep on walking until it's been 90mins-ish but it seems like he needs the motion to continue sleeping. I'd ideally like him to be able to sleep in different settings (not necessarily a dark room with white noise) but will do what I can to make it easier for him. Sometimes when he is playing and clearly getting tired, I put him in his pram in the hallway with white noise and see if he settles himself to sleep but he just coos away and doesn't go to sleep! Have also tried rocking him for 20 mins (he doesn't like to be cradled, he just resists) and if I get him to sleep upright on my shoulder he wakes when I put him down flat again. What does everyone else do to get their LO to sleep in the daytime? Any tips that have worked for you?

My two were entirely different animals during the day and night. My first would only ever nap on me, or the pushchair/car (if it were moving) during the day until she was 9 months old. At night, it was like there was a switch at 11pm where I could only lay her down after then otherwise she would wake up immediately. My second was in the same vein, but not as bad.

Unfortunately I have no solution, as I was a mattress (a sling wearing one with my second) until they dropped to one nap.

When I saw the signs of tiredness I used to swaddle mine and do shush Pat method in their cot whilst they were awake to help them drift off to sleep. Takes some time but for us that worked. Mine slept better on their side than back

I found the first nap easiest to establish in the cot - 14 weeks is early days though! To start with I’d do a cot nap at 9, a 2 hr pram push at 12 and short cuddle nap at 430. Eventually they all moved to the cot and she struggled to sleep in the pram but could nap un a moving car.

If it helps I think this is a pretty common problem as my 9 month old sleeps 13 hours at night but is awful at napping. Have you tried making the room dark, putting on sleeping bag etc for naps?

Possibly not linking sleep cycles?
Not liking being flat poss reflux. Mine did the cat nap thing only sleeping longer if moving.
Don't get into rocking!!! I did with my first and then it carried on until he was a heavy toddler!
Wasn't doing it with my 2nd!
Don't have too much constructive advice just do trial and error see what works.. then just when you've cracked it they're teething or some other development and it changes all over again!!!! It isn't forever try not to over stress over the sleep thing. My first was an AWFUL sleeper as a newborn and at 3 he's now a great sleeper x
