Grandparents and shingles

The in laws came for a visit Sunday, FIL yesterday was admitted to hospital with rash and tests came back as shingles. On Sunday he had no active blisters and didn't hold the baby (5 months). I'm kind of thinking it's unlikely but if baby gets it then it's not too bad as he'll likely get it at nursery next year anyway.
How likely is it to catch chicken pox from sitting next to someone with shingles? Are we set for a spotty Christmas?
Baby is breastfed so hopefully has my antibodies as I've had it

Your baby is at risk of getting chickenpox unfortunately. Hopefully any antibodies they are getting from you will help!
It's not usually too serious so hopefully if the baby does get it they get a mild case. It is usually milder in younger children.
At least it'll be over and done with too if they get it now!

Just to add the risk is quite small due to your FIL not having a rash yet and not having direct contact with the baby

Chicken pox is air borne whereas someone with shingles can only give chicken pox if a child comes into direct contact with the skin infection/ blisters. It depends where the blisters are.
