my dd hate having her hair washed/brushed and has hair like russel brand.
we have been using a loreal kids one for when she comes out of the bath, and also an avon one, but they dont seem to touch her tangles. are there any which do actually do what they are ment to?

We have found a combination of conditioner and the avon spray works for us.

I've used Dove's conditioner for normal hair and either Avons kids detangling spray or boots own condtioning coconut spray.

Oh and lots of brushing whilst condtioner is in and after spray is on!

i have used the coconut spray myself and it was good.
i could try conditioner but it would mean having to wash hair/rinse/apply conditioner/rinse again. and she screams the place down as it is!
she never used to mind it, funny how they go through stages like this

how old is she?

My dd is 4 and she's a fussy bugger in the bath but its better that than screaming when it comes to me brushing her hair the next day!

lizandlulu · 30/04/2008 15:18

she is 2.6

I use the Avon one on the DDs and it works OK...def recommend detangling from the bottom up though else it all goes pear-shaped!

heymammy · 30/04/2008 15:40

Oh yeah and always use a detangling comb like DA says. Brushes are shit and break your hair.

lucyellensmum · 30/04/2008 16:17

my DD is the same and she has really long hair, if i dont brush it (which i often dont it goes into proper dreadlocks, and im sure you can imagine the palava when it comes to detangling those!) She sreams the house down if i even approach her with the brush. What i find works a treat though is to plait her hair, after her bath and conditioning +++ i go through the hell that is brushing and put her hair in a plait, it can still look OK two days later . But its real use is that it prevents the hair tangling at night.

lol at russel brand hair

jaspersslave · 30/04/2008 19:33

the wilko's one is great!
a top tip is to brush the tangles at the bottom of he hair first then work your way up

CountessDracula · 30/04/2008 19:34

MOP do a pear one that is great
(Modern Organic Products)

lizandlulu · 30/04/2008 19:39

tonight i have plaited her hair, thanks lucyellenmum, she did have it washed with out much struggle cause i asked her to look for spiders on the celing, and sat and had her hair brushed while watching peppa pig.
will have to invest in a comb.

i have had mop before and thought it was rubbish, but will try anything.
i got mine from qvc and was really dissapointed with it!

We get on well with the johnsons spray (in a pink bottle). I do condition her hair though or you could try a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. I use a loreal 2 in 1 for when dd has her swimming lesson as it means just one lather and rinse instead of 2.

Prufrock · 30/04/2008 20:06

Paul mitchell do a great spray, but the best thing of all is the tangle teezer. It brushes out knots without hurting at all - my dd (6) will even brush her own hair now. It loks like just a crappy piece of plastic but it really does work and is the best £10 I ever spent (well apart from 1/2 a robomop)

lizandlulu · 30/04/2008 20:08

is the tangle teezer really that good?

Yes - dd has lots and lots of very fine hair. It takes a bit longer to do as it eases out tangles so gently, but it really doesn't hurt at all.
