EBF 5-week-old - is this poo normal? (TMI picture, sorry!)

DS is 5 weeks old tomorrow and EBF. The last two nights he’s been really unsettled, wanting to feed every 40-60 minutes and not wanting to be put down. He seems to be struggling with gas and got very agitated and uncomfortable when trying to pass wind or do a poo, but that’s calmed down a lot over the course of today. He’s also managing to go about 2 - 2 and a half hours between feeds during the day today, and is generally quite a bit happier - so maybe this is nothing to worry about?

His poos have been yellow for weeks, sometimes mustard seedy, which I understand is the fat from breast milk? So hopefully indicating that he’s feeding well.

Today I changed his nappy and there were some stringy things in it which were sort of mucousy but quite dry mucous, IYSWIM? Kind of gummy looking in texture rather than wet mucous. Do you think this could be related to his unsettledness?

He’s also had mild/moderate baby acne on his cheeks and chest (both MW and HV said it was just baby acne), which I think is improving.

Basically because he’s been so calm and chilled, doing 3 hour stretches at night and generally being a happy boy, this has got me quite worried about allergies/intolerances/ something else wrong with my milk. Do you think this is anything to worry about, or am I being a worrywart FTM? Very happy to be told it’s the latter! TIA x

I also saw the MW last Friday to be discharged (before DS started being unsettled, when he was still really chilled) and she said that babies do get quite unsettled around this sort of time, but it’s generally nothing to worry about and is just developmental. He’s learning to smile this week (which is amazing!), and I wonder if it’s to do with that?

I think it is probably absolutely normal, but I have three children with cow’s milk allergies and for them their poos were full of strong and mucous. They would be crying and uncomfortable with tummy pain and doing mega farts. For many, but not mine, skin issues also a sign. It’s quite easy to rule this out though by just going off all forms of dairy for a few weeks then having a challenge day where you eat loads of dairy. For mine the difference was so clear that O knew, cut out dairy and they were much happier. If there’s not much difference, then you’ve just had a few weeks without cheese, which is no great loss.
