We are getting plenty of pees, but no poos in 36 hours- now 8 days old. She is BF with 1/2 top ups of formula. Thanks

If you think she is constipated, is she having powdered formula? You could try the premade bottles. Have you had contact from a health visitor yet? I found them more useful than a midwife when DD had trouble feeding.

Unless baby is unusually distressed/ won't settle/ writhing I wouldn't worry too much. As others have said, there is less waste to come out with breast milk than with formula.

I'd feed feed feed, warm baths, warm flannel on tummy, light massage (look this up), bicycle legs etc

My daughter poo'd once a week since birth until about 6 months 🤷‍♀️ she's 3 now no issues with digestion or anything. had her meconium after birth then a poo next day then once a week. I'd definitely ask your midwife but it might just be your child's normal. In comparison babies in my antenatal group were poo'ing multiple times a day. It was actually really handy not having to change dirty nappies all the time 😁

Try get some feeding support op, if you’re wanting to breastfeed. It was around this point I realised dd wasn’t really getting much milk at all from me. It took a few days where we stayed home, I had her trying to latch all day and when she wasn’t I was pumping and feeding her bottles of expressed. She got back to birth weight quickly and I stopped pumping. You need lots of support to do that though. Make sure you’re getting lots of calories and nutrition yourself too and keep hydrated. I’m not saying that she isn’t getting enough milk, maybe she’s fine, but if your milk came in late and she’s not pooping it’s something to consider, unless you’re really confident

try the national breastfeeding support line - you can call email or message them on Instagram. They can probably point you in the direction of local support too.
