9 month old crying for over an hour

My 9 month old has never been a good sleeper but tonight he has woken 5 times since bedtime and has been awake for over an hour crying and screaming. I can’t settle him at all, he doesn’t want to feed and he is refusing calpol. I can’t see anything that would be making him uncomfortable. Not sure what I’m looking to achieve with this thread other than moral support. DH is of course fast asleep.

Can you lay him on his back and cycle his legs in case it's wind?

Co sleep?

Ears - telltale sign ok when head up, worse laid down and/or rubbing ears
Wind
Teeth

Keep persevering with calpol if you can

I agree with medication. Swaddle him in a a blanket or towel and squirt towards the back of the mouth.

Some times a change of scene help. Go and have a cuppa down stairs, try the medication, offer a feed and then try cosleeping.

I’ve tried tummy massage and bicycle legs but no success with that so far.

Not sure if cosleeping is the answer as he is still crying even if I cuddle or rock him like I usually would to settle him. So lying next to me probably won’t do much.

I’ll try a change of scene downstairs.

Good luck OP! Been there with my LO. It’s probably not good advice for all kids but I used to give mine something like toast or a pancake and watch 10 mins of YouTube and he would usually go back down ok. Don’t turn lights etc on downstairs to keep LO in ‘nighttime’ mode

Thank you everyone. After half an hour walking around the living room he eventually fell asleep on me. I still haven’t managed to get him to have the calpol but let’s hope a bit of rest helps him to feel better!
