Hi my daughter is 14 and she has been in really bad pain since the end of September the pain is under her belly button and to the left and sometimes on the right hand side, she has had a scan at the end of September and she had a ruptured ovarian cyst and they said it was only small it will go on its own, we are now in December and she has still been in pain every day she is taking 6 to 8 paracetemols each day and it's having no effect, the GP has urgently referred her to gynacology but heard nothing I've taken her to the GP and A&E many times they say her bladder is tender and she has had antibiotics for a UTI as there was blood in her sample. I feel like we are going round in circles and meanwhile my child is in pain everyday taking a lot of painkillers has anyone else any knowledge of this? Thanks

Not exactly the same, but my DD was in really bad pain when she was around 13. She went to A&E every day for six days, had numerous scans etc. First they thought it was appendicitis, then an enlarged cyst. It went on for around 8 weeks from memory and tbh I don’t think they really got to the bottom of it.

However, at the time she was being very badly bullied (think police involvement) at school and I really think this was probably the cause. It did eventually go and she moved schools too.

Do you think she is have any school issues or other problems she hasn’t mentioned? It’s so worrying, I do feel for you.

Thank you it's so frustrating isn't it I don't think she is having any bullying issues etc at school she really doesn't like the school environment at all but she has never liked it but only this pain since end of September,I just don't know what to do she's had blood tests everything comes back normal etc

It is yes, and scary, as I started imagining all sorts. At one point they were thinking of doing an exploratory but decided they couldn’t justify it as there was nothing really that obvious apart from the cyst. Given the awful pain she was in I really felt like they weren’t taking it seriously, particularly as she was a child who literally never made a fuss about anything. I’m sure they said the cyst had burst (amazing how you forget these things as she’s now 19) and eventually the pain got less and less until it went completely.

I’m sure you can get a second opinion as isn’t there that thing now in hospitals where parents have to be listened to. It’s called something but I cannot quite remember what. I read about it last year after a girl died of sepsis and the doctors had dismissed mum’s concerns. It’s a newish law to do with children in hospitals.
