Is hiring a bouncy castle for my garden in Feb too crazy?!

Hi! My daughter turns 3 next Feb and we were thinking of hiring a bouncy castle for our garden, with the actual party to be in the house. Is it too cold for me to even consider it, even if the weather is sunny? Thanks so much!

Are you in the UK? If so then yes , too cold. I have a Feb birthday daughter and it’s always bloody freezing on her birthday and sometimes snowing 😬
Edited as soz misread post first time round.
if it’s just bouncing around in the garden for a bit then back indoors for warmth then that would be fine in terms of the kids welfare , but you take the risk of shitty weather and the castle becoming a giant slip hazard

LittleRedRidingHoody · 04/12/2024 16:49

I think as long as it's dry it's a good idea. Problem is if it's not, a wet bouncy castle is super dangerous and you wouldn't be able to use it, so it's an expensive risk! 😬

FeelingJolly · 04/12/2024 16:49

It's going to be freezing

The kids probably wouldn't mind but how will tou keep the house warm with the door open?

I think I'd try and do something else, inside.

Or hire a hall that allows an indoor castle?

Hall hire can be quite reasonable

Greenstonecurt · 04/12/2024 16:50

Yeah I would not bring my 3 year old to this to have soggy feet and spend the whole time worrying about the cold and slipping! Hire a hall and do it.

Mynewnameis · 04/12/2024 16:51

It may also damage your grass. Big no from me

supercalifragilistic123 · 04/12/2024 16:53

My son has a February birthday and it's definitely too cold. Hiring a hall is a good idea, you can get one for only around £30 where we are.

MumonabikeE5 · 04/12/2024 16:56

Will they refund you if it rains?
will your grass be muddy? And then trampled in and out of house?
my kid is a January baby, and has had plenty of outdoor parties where kids come in snow suits etc, but the in and out of house thing I think will be trickier logistically.

HPandthelastwish · 04/12/2024 16:57

It's likely to snow in February. Hire a soft play place instead you won't regret it and your house won't get trashed

MichaelaJournee · 04/12/2024 16:58

I wouldn't. Hiring a hall sounds a lot better

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 04/12/2024 16:58

Really not a good idea.

InTheRainOnATrain · 04/12/2024 17:02

It’s not so much the cold for the kids as the slip risk if it’s wet, then wet muddy socks trailing through your house. And also the added complication with 2-3 year olds is they’ll need the door open all the time and constant parental supervision, they’re not like 7 year olds you could just chuck out there and mostly leave to it so long as you’re watching from the kitchen, so that’ll be grim for the parents and your house will be freezing. Don’t do it! Look at a hall or soft play.

Mamaisacornflakegirl · 04/12/2024 17:25

I looked into one for a November party - the few I checked with, they don't hire for external use from November to maybe March. so might not be easy to find one.

JingleB · 04/12/2024 17:36

Cold, muddy and horrible. Get one for a church hall if you want one.

mindutopia · 04/12/2024 19:14

They won’t hire to you outside in cold weather, as has to stay dry and no mucky feet or wet ground. If you find a dodgy one who will, they probably aren’t properly insured. I have two dc with February birthdays. Unfortunately, the weather is never reliable enough for outdoor activities.

sleepyhammie · 04/12/2024 19:18

thanks everyone for the (quick) responses!! it's a no for the bouncy castle then :)

There was a comment from someone with a bouncy castle company adding their website. MN just have removed it?

Mynewnameis · 11/12/2024 20:24

Ah I thought you meant the op! Confusion

TheWayTheLightFalls · 11/12/2024 20:44

I did this in October and even then it was borderline. Noooo.

sleepyhammie · 23/12/2024 10:33

Thanks everyone, I'm going to host a cosy tea party indoors instead of a bouncy castle in the coldest month in the north of England 😂

February is nuts. Don’t do it

SandraCampbell · 23/12/2024 17:29

Very dangerous idea for a young child.
