Hello
I'm looking to have another little one soon I'm just wondering about people's experiences and have questions! My first will be 4 by the time I have the second he just turned three.
How do others tackle the bedtime routine with a toddler and a newborn? I tend to stay with him till he falls asleep.
I had depression after my first and I'm worried about him seeing me like that with my second. I would be a crying mess once it hit 12
Walking the dog with a baby and toddler? Any tips and tricks?
Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Hey 👋 honestly new baby just kind of slots in to your current routine relatively smoothly, i would start now making preparations like maybe try phasing out the staying with toddler till they are asleep, is your dog good on walks? Do they pull on the lead? Of so try training them out of it now, you will have a pushchair so don’t want dog pulling and accidentally pulling over the pushchair, just small little adjustments before baby gets here will help them slot in smoother, i have 5 and every time there has been a new baby its takes a week or so to get back into the swing of things (still healing so dinners are takeaways or something quick) but after that everything goes pretty much back to normal xx

I have a 2 year old and an 8 week old, I also had depression with my first and he was a really difficult baby so I was so worried. But I've been absolutely fine this time. Still have moments it's hard but I'm nothing like I was with my first. That's not to say you won't get pnd again but I wouldn't assume it's a definite.

Bedtime I have baby in a swing chair/moses basket just outside my toddlers door and leave the door just ajar. If he cries I go and quickly soothe him then go back to my toddler. When my husband Is home it's much easier because he puts toddler to bed and I look after the baby.

I don't have a dog but I use a pram still for my 2 year old so I have a pram and baby in a sling. I'm guessing you walk your dog with your 4 year old so same as that but with a baby that doesn't weigh much strapped to you.

There are hard moments of course but I don't seem to have hard entire days like I did with my first. My first distracts me from the monotony of newborns as well.
