Hi i already have dd3 (7 months) in cloth, fluffles at night and mainly minky pockets during the day. Im due dc4 in october and will be looking for newborn/size 1 nappies, i havent used shaped nappies before on a newborn but im very keen to try some out. Dd3 was 8'11lbs so this one will probably be around the same size. Thanks

Hi

I have used shaped nappies and they are really great for absorbancy especially with a snap-in booster. But I haven't used on a baby under 11 or so lbs, I would imagine that they would be rather big at first.

I would be happy to send you one to try nearer the time if you like? I've seen some people mention turning over and using a nippa, that would probably be ok if you are happy with the (very cute) big bum look .

i used terries and tots 1s and the odd fluffle size 1 on dd from about 8.5 lbs...huge bottom, but cute!

i've been using baby beehinds bamboo nappies and wraps. Can use from newborn until potty training - never had any leaks. Take a while to dry - but otherwise great.

I would REALLY recommend easy peasy bumbles and bimbles here.

The bimble size 0 will give a fantasitc fit on a newborn which is great if you have other, size 1, nappies for when your DC4 is older (i.e.those DC3 has outgrown).

Alternatively go for the size 1 or the btp - these are really very good nappies - very highly rated but not much talked about. Well made, adaptable and not expensive to buy.

I would couple with an airflow (my fave) or rikki wrap.

Good luck with DC4

Definitely bimbles are fab. Also newborn kissaluvs (size 0) are great. Kissaluvs are particularly good for babies who are chubby and quite short. DS was just under 8 pounds but chunky.

Used bimbles, newborn kissaluvs and xs sandys on dd2 from newborn with ME airflow wraps.

Bimbles in size 0 are a really good fit and very cute!

Hope all goes well with your dc4

Thanks everyone for your imput, im just waiting to hear from my council to see if i have to use a specific shop so i can claim the £30 refund and then i shall be ordering some bimbles etc. I think i shall have to borrow a baby annable to try them on

Sandys are really cute - I used XS when he was born (5 1/2 lbs), then the small.

I've managed fine with size 2 totsbots from birth (babies between 8 & 10.3 lbs). Does look quite Teletubby!

I use (and really like) bambineo nappies
these come in size 1 and 2 and are lovely and soft and quite slim i.e. not too bulky
are bamboo so very absorbent but take longer to dry

PotPourri · 30/04/2008 21:31

bumbles are well cute. Personally I will just be using small 40cm terries, as they look gorgeous when on, and they wash so well (meconium as you will know is pretty sticky!)
