My dd was invite to a 6th birthday party from school which we accepted and I even mentioned the nut allergies on the rsvp. We then had to candle super last minute Saturday morning ( when the party was at 4pm) due to lack of sleep with a 7week old baby. My question is, is it appropriate to take the already bought toy into class on Monday for the child whose party we was due to attend? Thanks

No, people aren't expected to keep cake sat around all weekend after someone cancels and £30 is far too much to spend on a little classmate's present. You're reading this all wrong OP.

If the present was £15-20 I'd send it - given that it's this close to Xmas at £30 I'd keep it.

If u had of said sorry DD can't go I'll send present on Monday, I think it wud be reasonable to think you would get a party bag, not reasonable to expect it.

Tho, I think your reason for not going is pants!

You can't expect a party bag if your child missed the party, regardless of taking in the gift. No one is going to hang onto a 2 day old piece of cake for your child to hand over in return for a gift.

The gift and the party bags are not related. It isn't a swap.

No daddy was at work and yes was up all night and so was both kids , did you not have a storm by you? It was also completely flooded and really unsafe to drive. Yea I spend 30 on a toy as I did the last 5 birthdays in a row ( education gift £12 , book £7 and a toy£10 ) 30£ is not much , an yes I do struggle with social interactions actually probably why I spend 30£ on gifts and not the £5 you do as I worry what people will think of me. An I asks for advice because I can’t imagine not giving something back ( especially if I’d bought it for an allergy and just taking a birthday present ) anyhow I have my answers I have given the present and not received even a thank you for it … strange.

Agog that you'd spend that much on a 6yr olds present and get them 3 different things. Way ott.

You need to start worrying less about what people think of you.
