Making Christmas special?

Hi, we are having to leave our beautiful home so that some repairs can take place. These are likely to take at least 2 months.

We are fortunate enough to be rehoused but I’m struggling that it’s over Christmas. My DS is now at the age where he understands the magic of Christmas and I had so many plans to make this year special. So disappointed that we won’t be in our home and looking for ways to still keep the Christmas magic going? Not sure if I can take our tree/decorations as we already have so much to take (other children too but older) and the house is small.

Please help a mum out!

I would look at prioritising a few Christmas decs to be honest. Tinsel and paper chains go a long way and don't take up too much space! You can make an activity out of sprucing the place up 😊

You can also order/buy a smaller tree - tabletop sized? Often supermarkets have these for £15 or less.

If you don't normally do elf on the shelf (and you're Santa'y people!), you could do this as a one off? Aka - Santa sent the elf to check where we'll be staying to make sure the presents go to the right place! Doesn't have to be the whole month either, just a few days of antics could be fun.

Make sure you have plenty of Christmas themed snacks and food around! There's lots of everyday stuff that's been Christmassy-fied ~ reindeer crumpets anyone?

I think the magic is in the excitement and the build up, not where you spend it. As long as there is some sort of festive decor like a small tree (you can find a million cheap decorations and trees on marketplace) and a stocking then he can have a magical Christmas anywhere. Not quite the same but the Easter bunny visited us in our tent one year when the kids were small, they were beside themselves with excitement that he'd found them even though they weren't at home.
