Early puberty

Does anyone have any experience of early puberty? My daughter is 7 and I’ve noticed a few pubic hairs, her armpits can be a little smelly occasionally. She gets the occasional spot on her face and recently she has said one of her nipples hurts, feels like a bud underneath. We are being referred to a specialist and having bloods taken friday. Just wondered if anyone is going through similar? 7 seems so young to be going through this 😬 her mood swings are like a teenager too!

I think puberty generally starts around that age for girls, maybe with 7 being in the earlier side. Does it run in the family?

How close to 8 is she?
Puberty can start as early as 8 without it being classes as precocious puberty.
Hopefully it isn't really starting just yet

I can’t remember when I started puberty and no one to ask as my mum died when I was younger and my dad can’t remember 🤦🏼‍♀️my periods started around 14/15 though so definitely on the later side

She’s only just 7 so it seems super early to me 😬just feel like if it is hormonal, it’s a bit too much for her to process at this age

It doesn't sound that early to me. I had visible breasts at that age. I was a little early, but I had no health issues.

Thank you, that’s reassuring to know! There’s nothing visible breast wise at the moment, just the feeling of the possible bud growing in one and fact she said it’s a little tender

I probably started puberty not long after that and periods at 10. I don’t have PCOS or anything else like that either, completely normal weight, healthy, fertile etc. perhaps all is well with your daughter. I do think that it feels too early to deal with for girls though on an emotional level when they are still in primary, but there will be others going through the exact same thing. There might be an underlying reason but you said GP was investigating, so you’re doing the right thing.

She’s tall for her age but nothing off the charts. I’m 5’9 and her dad is 6’2 so I feel like it’s unsurprising she’s tall too. I think that’s exactly the thing, it’s the dealing with it emotionally but I guess once we know what’s going on, we can speak to her school etc. I just want her to have the support she needs to cope
