Looking for ideas for toys that are great for very active pre schoolers. No interest in games / crafts / small world / role play. Loves being outside and physical! Looking for ideas for something for inside when the weather is crap!!!

How big is your house?
Pedal go
Roller skates
Skate board
Those activity tunnel things.

Wobble board, and balanced track are popular here. Bilibo less so.

How much space?

We have:
pikler triangle with slide for climbing
Wobbel board (used to wobble on, lay on, balance on, slide/ramp for cars)
Bilibo seat (very versatile, used for wobbling, balancing on, as part of an obstacle course, used as a bed/bath/seat for teddies)
Skipping rope (never used for skipping inside, but used to make wiggly lines to walk on - usually as part of an obstacle course)

We're also adding a set of stepping stones for Christmas and may look at a foldaway balance beam for birthday next year!

Most of the above is used daily, if space is a premium, wobbel board/bilibo might fit the bill better as easier to store away!

Yo yo
Skipping rope
Hula hoop
Indoor hopscotch (amazon has like foam tile things that lock together)

This spinning stool is amazing - one of my best purchases ever. It's also really quiet, sturdy enough for even a regular sized adult to have a go on too, and doesn't take up much space. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gonge-2167-Carousel/dp/B086LSHB2Q/ref=ascdfB086LSHB2Q?mcid=4fe4d3f25905385c8231dbd4f898bae4&th=1&psc=1&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697312746437&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16017076500577303189&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9193626&hvtargid=pla-1434959932077&psc=1&gad_source=1

Large open plan downstairs area here, so my daughter uses her trike around the space.

The IKEA play tunnel is also good for burning off energy on wet days.

Following!
Interesting that the Bilbo isn’t as used as the wobble board @Midwintermayhem . @SpookyGiraffe out of just those two which do you think your DC prefer?

Lelongducanal · 18/11/2024 22:39

If you’ve got space I think one of these Swedish ladder things look like they’d provide a lot of entertainment goodevas.com/en-gb/collections/swedish-walls

The ikea folding mat!!

SpookyGiraffe · 18/11/2024 23:06

@Comff I'd say in our house the wobbel and bilibo are used in equal measures but for different things. My DD (4) is more likely to seek out the wobbel board for the wobbling action than the bilibo seat, but is drawn to the bilibo seat to make a stepping stone for an obstacle course or to play with her other toys with it.

On the other hand, when my niece visits (age 8) she makes a beeline for the bilibo seat for the wobbling side of it. I wonder if it's because for smaller kids sitting in it with shorter legs it's trickier to get momentum going as opposed to the wobbel board.

Onlyvisiting · 18/11/2024 23:19

Oh, don't know what it's called but those big mat things that play sounds when you stamp on them? Depends on the age of your pre schooler I guess!
