How does the washable wipe thing work then?

How does everyone who uses them do it - do you have a jug of water with you when changing nappies? What do you do when out and about?

Would love to dump the baby wipes, so would appreciate tips on using washable wipes please .

HI rachelinscotland - I've been using just water, but wondered about making up a solution with a dash of Halos'n'horns baby bath, water and olive oil (and maybe some chamomile tea as has been suggested) - just a bit alarmed that using fleece wipes with water would give him a red bot, he's never had a red bot before and I don't use any creams!

I have always preferred flannel type wipes TBH. You can't dry the moisture from the water off with a fleece wipe as they don't absorb.

I only use water, and a touch of sudacreme or bottom butter or similar when required.

I am very happy with terry wipes, but am thinking of cutting up an old flannel sheet. I use a smallflask out and about with warm water almond oil and a dash of halo n horns bath stuff. Also use at night(saves time) I've never used disposible wipes as I tried them out on myself when out and about with stitches OUCH!!!

Thinking back to when we carried washable wipes, we started using fleece squares but moved to Tesco flannels (4 for a £1).

We would carry in a small washing powder net bag........a couple of flannels and a small travel plastic box with small bottles, one with water for the flannels, one of blue hand cleaner for me and a tiny pot of bum cream.

I tell you what I use and its alot cheaper than the official babywipes.

Go to poundland or 99p stores and they have packs of "baby wash cloths" that work perfect. They are soft, but get poo off and so cheap! They are aslo the perfect size! You get 6 in a pack in poundland or 8 in 99p stores. You can get pink/blue/green/yellow so they look nice too!

Also, another tip. I sometimes use johnsons baby wipes when out etc but I just put them in the wash with the nappies and re-use. You can get about 5-6 uses out of each wipe! Doesn't work as well with other brands though.

I have the poundland baby washcloths and they are brill! I either just wet them under tap as and when, or store them in a plastic wipes box ready wetted. Sometimes I am really sad and concertina fold them so they come out like disposable wipe

we have mini facecloths. just use water.
out and about have a little bag with me to put the wipe in once it is dirty
we use them for face hands or bum.
as for hanging them out... we don't, I put them in a stack and sit them on a radiator overnight.
we have saved soooo much money over the last 4 years on wipes for DS1 and now DS2. brilliant!
