Bodysuit and leaky nappy

Hello,

DD tends to have one major poo a day, and it usually leaks at the back just above the nappy resulting in poo covered suit.

Am ok with the front opening suit (eg: sleepsuit) but am just wondering what is the best way to remove the suit which needs to go over her head (eg: bodysuit) without having the poo all over the back of her body and hair. Doesnt help when she starts wriggling around.

Or is this just something that we have to live with? Or maybe there is a trick to non-leaky nappy?

TIA!

sometimes if you go up a size in nappies it helps!

MrsBadger · 27/04/2008 12:24

take her arms out the neckhole and take it off downwards

or roll up suit as you take it off (like a sock) so poo ends up inside roll

LJA - been experimenting different brands and sizes of nappies. Still on no 3, no 4 nappy is a bit big for her. Difficult to fasten the nappy properly and pee leaks out when she has her legs up and kicking about.

Put a pair of plastic pants over the nappy, i.e. the wraps that you put over washable nappies and it won't leak so badly.

MrsBadger - good suggestion on the rolling like a sock.

Cant visualise taking her arms out of the neckhole and downwards - think might be a bit struggeling to get arms through the neckhole, but will give it a try.

Ten10 - not heard or seen those wraps. Any links for the product?

Oh yes and try different brands of nappies, mine always exploded through pampers, but not so bad in huggies and sainsbury's

motherease or totsbots
thenappylady.co.uk
or ebay

Also wasnt keen on putting her in separate top and bottom. At least now there is something to catch the poo.

With separate top and bottom, the poo will just go wherever she is sitting/lying against.

if you can't take it off downwards (ie arms out through neckhole) is it time to move up a size? That's how I tell

hbmummy · 27/04/2008 13:38

Back - just finished feeding DD.

Thanks for all the suggestions - will give it a try, though dread having to buy new clothes for her again

Nappy wraps are good, although we do sometimes get a leaky nappy even with a wrap!

Do you really throw out poo stained clothes? I don't The stains do usually wash out after a few washes. Napisan is good. If they don't wash out, then it's perfectly fine for Tom to wear the clothes at the PIL or around the house. One of the mums I know said she binned some clothes her son had got dirty by playing out in their garden. Not quite the same league as poo.

southutsire · 27/04/2008 14:21

We had this problem all the time with ds's amazing poonamis... it was the main reason I changed to washables! They seem to be so much better at containing poo IME.

We used to roll up the vest too.

hbmummy · 27/04/2008 15:30

Oh no, definitely do not throw out poo-stained clothes. As you said, after a few washes, the stain fades.

Am referring to buying some bigger size new suits for her. Got her a set of 7 suits that are for 3-6 months, and cant take her arms out through the neckhole and take it off downwards, as suggested by MrsBadger. Time to move on to 6-9 months stuff.

\I just wash them at 60 if poo stained
Never had any problems really (or maybe I just don't notice )

MaeWest · 27/04/2008 15:47

Poo-stains really fade if you can hang them outside in bright sunlight (or moonlight if you forget your washing like me...).

lightwind · 01/05/2008 09:59

Poo stains get out straight away if you hand wash the stained clothes targetting the stained bits, and then put them in the machine at 40 as usual - thats what I do, and I just use ordinary soap

Nati8na · 01/05/2008 10:07

Im with Ten10. Pampers were awful for leaks! Used to put DD in one over night and by morning the innards of the nappy would be everywhere.

Huggies are much better but the best I find for no leaks are Boots own brand.

Lionstar · 01/05/2008 10:29

You can get bodysuits that do up at the front - kind of a cross-over effect. H&M definately do them - they were my faves for DD, cute designs too. Very easy to get baby in and out.

Would also suggest washables as good for poo containment, particularly 2-parters i.e. with seperate wrap.
