Nice-to-have gift for new parents

Hello - me and my husband are expecting our first and have been very frugal/minimalist with what we’ve bought so far. Just about everything has been second hand/FB market place, there’s a spreadsheet to track what we’ve got, and we are limiting ourselves to what we think are the essentials. For Christmas we’ve agreed to each buy a gift which is definitely not essential but a bit of a treat or just nice-to-have for when the baby is here. Obviously I don’t want to spend money on something we will never use but I wondered if anyone has any suggestions for what you absolutely could have survived without, but you’re pleased you had?! All I can think of is a very cute outfit she will probably only wear once but there must be something more creative than that which I am not thinking of? Thanks in advance!

For small babies a rockit is useful. Someone bought me a star fleece wrap which was very useful too e. G. To get them warm quick after swimming. For when baby's eating, a bibadoo is an essential I think! It's the present I send to all new mum friends.

Congratulations and I did the same with buying everything second hand, you can spend crazy money if you buy everything new!

Just thought of another thing. I think it's worth spending a bit more money on a good quality changing mat. If you buy the cheap ones they don't last 5 minutes. I've got one from mamma's and papas and it's so much better. Got it in the sale so it was only £15 so not bad.

Tuppence & Crumble Star Fleece - wish I'd had one when I had DD; had several for DS in different sizes. Very cute & snuggly but really useful & compliant with car seats, pushchairs, slings/carriers.

Windproof gloves for pushing a buggy in winter 😁

Omg yes the gloves/muff that attach to the buggy handle are brilliant

And for you, a BBhugme pillow.

I've had mine since 2020 - two pregnancies, two babies and the non pregnant time in between.

Outside of pregnancy they're so useful for getting comfy to feed, sitting up in bed, propping the baby in (supervised ofc) AND they look nice on the bed ;)

Thanks so much everyone, I was thinking about a buggy attachment of some description so will take a look at these!
