Noticed today that a piece of one of ds's front teeth is missing - and I have no idea when and how it happened!

My dd has this! I was upset too but realised it had happened when she fell(about a week before I noticed it). At the time I thought she was crying because she'd bumped her head, poor thing. You probably coforted him at the time, not realising where he'd hurt iyswim. How old is he? I asked my dentist about DD's tooth and he said as long as it is not discoloured it is fine.

Thank you, glad to hear it happens to others, felt terrible that I hadn't noticed~!

I know, I did too but I just think they would cry enough to MAKE you notice if it was painful for a long time. I have to really point out DD's tooth to show people so I think it is more noticable to us as their mums anyway.

emkana · 26/04/2008 22:15

Yes I hadn't noticed it, it was only today when ds was sleeping open-mouthed on my lap.

Now that I know it's there I find it much more noticeable of course...

Exactly, same here. That would be that except my mum nearly cried when I told her! But that is my mum for you, doesn't mean to do it but she can really get the guilt going!

oh gawd

I better not tell my MIL

Lol, no. And she will never notice anyway!

It may not have been missing when he did it, emakana - he could have knocked and fractured it and the bit dropped off later.

Anyway as u2bt said, as long as the tooth isn't discoloured - and if he has no sensitivity - it won't be a problem for him.

I hadn't noticed till the dentist pointed it out . Apparently 1st teeth are not very strong and quite easy to chip, according to dentist who was maybe trying to make me feel better!
