She is 5 months and teething , she is very tired but responsive she went down for her last nap at 6 and I had to wake her at 7 she only drank 4oz and wanted to go asleep for the night . Low temp of 35.3 just now and has drank bottles throughout the day but not as much as I would expect and will only take 2oz from her dream feed she has drank a total of 784mls today. She hasn't had her second lot off vaccines due to have them next week we had a bereavement in the family and had to postpone them. I had to bring her into the hospital to say goodbye to the relative and I'm absolutely panicking she caught something she was fine all day and I don't know if I'm over thinking it but I just feel like something is wrong it's a gut feeling I'm very worried I can't put my finger on it other than her being cooler than normal . The nearest hospital is an hour away and I just don't know if I'm being ridiculous or not ? She's beside me in the bed and I'm keeping a constant watch on her

Sounds to me like she’s a little under the weather but not a hospital visit illness.

Keep checking she’s responsive and having wet nappies and I think she will be fine in a few days.

Ok thank you so much I'm just going out of my mind here , is a low temp normal enough then if they are poorly if there is no infection ?

Hi OP. If their temperature genuinely is that low I’d be concerned enough to call 111. A lot of home thermometers aren’t incredibly accurate but if after checking a few times you are getting a consistently low temperature I think calling 111 would be a good option. Trust your gut if you aren’t feeling happy about how your little one is.

Have you checked your temperature with the thermometer? Just to make sure it's reading accurately.

That temp is too low. My little one ended up being sent to hospital via ambulance due to possible sepsis when he had a low temp. His did go to 34.5 but 35.5 is still very low . If you ring 111 they will tell you to go and get him checked

Mumoftwo2022 · 06/11/2024 23:39

Just seen it’s now 35.8 check it again in 10 minutes as that is “ok”

If you cant shake the feeling something is wrong please call 111. Home thermometers aren’t as accurate as those at the gp. Please get some professional advice.

This. AlWAYS follow your gut with babies and children. Never feel you are making a fuss. Plus a low temp is worrying. Good luck x
