Has anyone got any experience with this?
DD who is 1 was diagnosed yesterday in hospital as I took her down due to a tug when breathing, coughing, runny nose, temp etc.
she was discharged after seeing the pead as they said they didn’t notice any signs of struggling to breathe, despite Urgent Care stating she had resession in her abdomen & the tug.
all of her sats were fine, she’s not eating great but she is eating stuff here and there, which the peads said is fine as long as she is eating and drinking.
We were also told to give calpol and nurofen for the next 48 hours as they noted day 4-5 will be the worst of it.
today I’ve still noticed the tug and I’m worried. I’m worried to take her back incase they just send us back home again (after bloody 9 hours of waiting to be seen!) or if I’m overreacting. But then I’m also worried for DD if it’s left and it DOES need to be seen again.
they didn’t seem concerned at all yesterday and she seems pretty much the same today.
any advice please or anyone else who were sent home with a tracheal tug?

My DS had it at 3 months. Ended up in A&E 3 times with worsening recessions, stats all fine. After second time we spent one night in paeds just because I was worried (think they only allowed because he'd spent 4 days in NICU for breathing issues after being born) but stats all fine so just sent us home. A&E just kept saying its not an emergency but come back if worse, by that time worse would have been turning blue! He's 7 months now and it still happens occasionally. I think if oxygen levels are okay there's nothing they can do other than monitor. Hope your DD gets better soon! X

Hi my 7 month old DS currently is in hospital with it. They are not overly concerned as it’s so common and can be helped with some oxygen and feeding tube if needed in hospital. Many children are able to get over it by themselves.
I would watch out for a deterioration in breathing/a temperature and if she stops taking fluids. Fluids is what they are concerned about more than food. I would take her straight back to A and E if she shows any of these signs as she might need some help to recover.
I hope she feels better soon, it’s rubbish and the cough takes weeks to get over!

Thank you both so much, it is reassuring to hear. I also really hope your little ones feel better soon! It’s absolutely awful.
urgent care had stated yesterday that she had resession in her abdomen & the tug, which I’ve still noticed today but obviously because we were sent home yesterday with it being the same I’m just worried. They did say to look out for blue lips, head bobbing etc and lack of fluids / dry nappies
I guess because her sats were fine there is literally nothing they can do:(
she is eating bits like yoghurt, stew, biscuits, banana & having sips of juice. She’s having wet and soiled nappies so I think she’s doing well on that side of things, it’s just the breathing side it’s honestly so worrying! I guess I will have to wait and see how she goes and keep an eye on her
thank you both ❤️
