Wool for daytime?

JoyS · 25/04/2008 18:31

Does anybody use wool wraps full time? I love them for night so much that I'd like to use them all the time...

Are they terribly bulky? Can you put jeans etc over them or will that make them wick? how many would I need for a just-2-year-old who doesn't look likely to potty train soon?

I like the look of woolywraps and the imse vimse wrap (already have the cotton wrap and it fits DD really well). What would you all suggest?

You need Flame for this one!

If you are in the mood for some Wool wrap shopping then have a look on eBay US - they have some fantastic woool wraps on there with very individual patterns (great for daytime use) and if the postage isn't too high on the item you'll get a bargain!

I dont know the answers to your questions as your right flames the woolly woman. I do have some customers who use stacinator wraps through the day as they are thicker....

Soemof the wahms do some lovely shorties n stuff - i got osme gorgeous ones from pixie knits (in my profile i beleive).

NappiesGalore · 25/04/2008 21:36

stacinator wraps fairly slim for daytime i think. and felted 'shaped' wraps, like , say, swaddlebees look like daytime wear.

dunno about the wicking or not - i presume with baggy enough clothes, like trews from cut4cloth for eg it wouldnt be a problem, tho ive never used wool in the day and i have the amazing self potty training 2yo from heaven

Ello

I have used them daytime too yes. I found woven or felted less bulky, so the swaddlebees ones, imse vimse (I think are woven), puddlepants, sugar peas etc are all great.

I have used woollywraps too but you need quite roomy jeans as they are that much bulkier.

As long as they are well lanolised and you change regularly (I found they needed changing slightly earlier so they don't get completely sodden) then they are fine during the day. It can be handy to have 2 each day so you can alternate.

4 would give you enough for nights, airing out, poo accidents etc. Just don't lanolise/wash em all at the same time! 6 would be oodles so you would never have to worry.

Tis easier with a DD as you can put them in dresses and skirts so no compression issues. Long car journeys will be best with a fresh and possibly boostered nappy.

Can my dude be naked all day on Monday and yours can train him???

Ceolas · 25/04/2008 21:42

Is the Baby Beehinds one felted? It's quite slim.

I have one but not used it much. I used it for daytime just as normal and it didn't leak.

Flame · 25/04/2008 21:44

Woven - should be good for day

NappiesGalore · 25/04/2008 21:44

absolutely

my dude ran naked from waist down across the school fields this eve after we had cake at a friend of M's house after school(they live in house on school grounds coz they work there) . older kids playing some sport or other were in stitches (nekkidness was due to wee accident so hes not that perfect obv)

Flame · 25/04/2008 21:45

He'll love it.

NappiesGalore · 25/04/2008 21:45

how many [grin faces]???

Ceolas · 25/04/2008 21:46

It's got an extra strip in the middle too. Quite nice but I don't like the wet wool smell!

NappiesGalore · 25/04/2008 21:46

why do you think my entire house is wipe down-able and waterproof??

Flame · 25/04/2008 21:47

Tis good to be happy

I wash mine in baby shampoo and only tend to smell that rather than wet wool

NappiesGalore · 25/04/2008 21:48

i am rich ponce and wash my wool in imse vimse wool wash and lanolise with imse vimse wool cure. all smells looooovely.

Flame · 25/04/2008 21:49
Ceolas · 25/04/2008 21:50

Well I'm definitely not rich! Bought an opened tube of Lansinoh for about a quid on ebay to lanolise!

Only used it 2-3 times and haven't washed yet

NappiesGalore · 25/04/2008 21:54

at rich claim [tipsy]

fwiw, i am lazy slattern slut too so i dont use much of either v often

Flame · 25/04/2008 21:59

(she gets the staff to do it for her )

NappiesGalore · 26/04/2008 08:27

no-ones allowed to touch my wool.
not after the sugar peas debacle.
[still traumatised]

Ceolas · 26/04/2008 09:39

Not aware of the sugar peas debacle, but where can I buy them?

Flame · 26/04/2008 11:50

Sugar peas can be bought from bumfluff... but very few in stock (I think I have 2, a medium and a large - can rummage if you are interested).

The problem with sugar peas is if they are used as a snap in nappy - you take off the nappy, chuck it in the nappy bucket, then forget and wash the nappy and wrap at 60.... and get a teeny tiny wrap

JoyS · 27/04/2008 10:54

Thanks for all the responses! Think I might get an imse one to try out as I can use it for night as well.

Has anybody tried the swaddlebees ones? They look lovely but we've had fit problems with swaddlebees pockets (skinny legs)...

OP posts:
Flame · 27/04/2008 19:00

I've not tried one - will looked pointedly at NappiesGalore to be a guinea pig

JoyS · 27/04/2008 19:38

Yes, someone else should definitely try one and report back! Was so excited about swaddlebees pockets but they have to be fastened on the smallest popper and even then the pee just rolls out. Going to sell them as soon as I get my act together.
