Childrens Parties

As a ftm, I'm not sure on the etiquette for kiddies birthday parties!

My little boy has just started getting invites to parties for 2/3 year olds that he goes to the childminder with... if we go am I supposed to take a gift? What kind of thing?

Personally can't think of anything worse than 20 toddlers running about like mad things in a hall... but I suppose this is what my life will be for the foreseeable!

That’s lovely that he is being included in parties.
Just take something kids of his age will like - lego, toy cars, dinosaurs etc.

Yes, take a gift. It doesn't need to be anything expensive. We have so many parties that I aim to get things when I see Aldi middle aisle offers but mine are older.

For 2/3 year olds I'd probably do a book / activity book. The Melissa and Doug reusable sticker books usually went down well and worked out about £5 each.

This is what I mean. If you buy a 3 pack and give 1 per party it's not too expensive.

I’d always bring a gift, but I definitely think it can be a token gift at this stage - in the past I’ve bought a book / toy car / colouring book and pens etc.

Take something small or consumable, my favourite is pavement chalks. Play dough is also good.

Definitely take a gift, I spend around £5-£10 though found some 99p aldi middle aisle reductions this week which were perfectly fine. Something your kid would like. A book, craft, PJs, stickers etc. Make sure you stick your card to the present!

Prepare for no food for adults if it's a meal time but sometimes you get lucky and get a coffee and muffin etc.

Party bag tat will enter your life for the foreseeable and your child will love it

You could also make the card.
Some of my kids favourite presents when little were the simple ones, bubbles, pavement chalk, those slimy things that go down windows, foam airplanes and anything that made a noise

I'm sure you know you're supposed to take a gift! Instead of a cheap 99p gift (where the mum might expect a drink and muffin...for herself!), I would stick money in a card.

A small toy or book, no more than £5, and a card. Yes, they are hell ish until you can drop them off and leave, but you grin and bear it and take it in turns.
