Puddings for toddlers

Looking for some ideas for puddings for my toddler. I prefer not to give her anything too sugary or processed so inevitably she ends up with fruit and / or yogurt. I've made her vanilla custard and coconut rice pudding from scratch before. Any healthy ideas would be much appreciated. Feeling uninspired! Thank you xx

We don't do anything very fancy and more often than not don't have any pudding as dinner is filling enough. If we do, my 3 year old likes the sugar and sweetener free petit filous pots or a digestive biscuit and a glass of milk.

Sometimes he gets something fancier if we're all having it, like apple pie and custard. Plenty of sugar in that though.

Sorry I'm not at this stage yet so can't share anything but would love your recipes for the custard and pudding if you don't mind?

I do sugar free banana custard, natural yogurt, frozen yogurt or banana pancakes

It's not sugar free but I think a nice apple crumble is good as its using seasonal fruit as a base and it's easy. I use wholemeal flour and serve with cream

Just fruit or yoghurt. They don’t need pudding every day. On special occasions, a teeny piece of birthday cake or some custard if you go to Auntie Mary’s for Sunday lunch. That’s it, nothing special. There’s no end to fruits you can try though.

I agree that fruit and yoghurt is fine for day to day puddings. Then just a bit of whatever you’re having if it’s a Sunday lunch pudding or birthday dinner etc. I wouldn’t particularly make special pudding for them generally but stick to fruit and yoghurt.

We're on the fruit and yoghurt train too.

Maybe a smoothie bowl with some seeds or a crunched up digestive biscuit on top

Chia pudding goes down well here

And sugar-free banana muffins

I make the fruit and yoghurt into smoothies (yoghurt, milk, banana, one other fruit from frozen mango, strawberries, raspberries or blueberries) and also freeze it to make "ice lollipops" which is a current favorite dessert here.

Fruit or yoghurt here too. We make. Ice lollies in the summer. If we are out all bets are off and it's whatever they want.

How about a yoghurt baked pudding? Simply mix caster sugar, milk, and yoghurt until smooth, then add egg yolks and blend well.

Next, fold in some cake flour, sifting the mixture once or twice. Pour into paper cups and bake at 200°C for 20 minutes in a preheated oven.

If you don't want too much sugar or processed food, and something beyond fruit/yogurt, then you'll probably have to DIY. Things like banana bread, banana muffins are pretty simple and tend to be liked. If you're okay with dried fruit then teabread type options are easy. Growing up we had "all bran cake" which was a recipe from a back of a cereal box version of a teabread, we loved it! Recipe similar to this and it makes a nice moist not too sweet fruit cake. https://witches-kitchen.livejournal.com/33266.html Other ideas could be a basic crumble - some chopped up apple and frozen berries, with a basic oat/flour kind of topping. Jelly, again can include fruit in it. Some homemade healthier kind of biscuits?

4 mug cake

This isn't really a cake - more like a teabread - and I've been making it for years. I think the recipe was originally on an All-Bran packet. There's no fat, eggs or added sugar, is as simple as simple can be to make and is excellent to take when out w...
