Losing my mind

My almost 7 week old will not sleep during the day unless contact nap. He also struggles to fall asleep and sometimes fights it. He is super fussy and clingy atm. After his feeds he is always so unsettled and cries endlessly - we thought it was CMPA due to his rash he had but as I went back to normal formula his rash has not come back. Im not sure if he has silent reflux as he sometimes brings back some milk and always has hiccups which causes him to be even more unsettled , I’vd tried Infacol , Gripe water nothing really settles him and wants to sleep with me and not in his cot even tried taking him to a Osteopath and not seen much progress. Its taking a toll on me because I also have a 2 year old who is going through the terrible two stage and constantly needs my attention. Both are so hard to juggle during the day I am so burnt out

Hey there, I'm so sorry things are so hard right now. I have a 4 yo and a 5mo and can totally relate. My 5mo had bad silent reflux, impacting sleep massively that was caused by a tongue tie we only really considered at 8-10weeks old. Rather than give medicine for the reflux (that your baby might or might not have) I'd have him properly looked at by a feeding consultant to make sure that 1) he does have reflux, and 2) if so, what is causing it, as only then you'll know what is the best course of action. Check out the Reflux Baby Lady for the best info on this, too. For us, once we realised it was the tongue tie that was causing the reflux, and that it needed releasing, it was such a relief. We did have the tie cut, and after a few weeks of tongue and oral exercises to retrain his tongue, the reflux disappeared (without medicine) and sleep got much better.

Personally, I think it is completely normal for babies, specially in the 4th trimester, to need contact for sleep, that's how they feel safest. My 1st was (and still is) hypersensitive and definitely needed more constant contact for the best sleep. I found that a baby carrier was the best tool to have my babies sleep in the day, while still being able to do the things I want/need to with my 2 arms free.

I hope this helps x
