Double buggy recommendations please

Looking for a double buggy that can take a newborn, so carrycot, and 2 year old. I’m a bit overwhelmed with the choice.

We currently have an icandy peach but it’s going to cost near enough £700 to convert to a double so I’m thinking of getting something a bit more lightweight that we can take on holidays etc and using that.

Ive heard good things about the nipper but again it’s a bit too steep price wise for us at the moment.

Any ideas welcome!

Mountain buggy duet. I absolutely love mine. It's ridiculously easy to manoeuvre, fits through doors and onto public transport, and can be used from newborn to preschool. I started off using it with a newborn and a 2 year old, so baby was in the newborn bassinet, but my two are now 1 and 3 so are in the tandem seats together - I like how they sit next to each other. Try second hand if cost is an issue. You won't regret it

I got a second hand nipper. It was awesome. Similar to the mountain buggy but my son was more comfortable in the nipper, felt wider. We didn’t use the bassinet but a friend did. The lie flat seats are suitable from birth. Couldn’t recommend it higher, I was sad to see it go!

Another vote for the nipper, though know two childminders who are very happy with their mountain buggy duets.

I like that the nipper can fit through most doorways despite being a side by side double. Also got ours second hand and it was used as a running buggy too. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Loved my Mountain Buggy duet and was sad to see it go!

Good MB second hand/selling page on FB which is where I sold mine on

Why £700, surely your just buying an extra seat. I had the peach. When my son turnt 3 he didn't want to sit in the pushchair so ended up using a buggy board.

Kungfoopanda · 28/10/2024 21:45

I wouldn't use the peach as a double, I think the extra weight would make it a bit unstable. I had my chunky 18m old out the other day and it was a bit unstable at times. I would look for a second hand out n about or mountain buggy duet both get rave reviews. I had the GT which is more of an all rounder as I don't exactly go around forest parks on the regular!

@Lovetoshop365 last time I looked the seat frame and fabric were separate and they were both expensive but it was a while ago so I’ll have another look.

My eldest was just turned 3 when dd was born so we used a buggy board but dd is still only 1 at the moment, turning 2 just before my due date and I need a buggy to do the school run in a reasonable time or we’d never get there!

My youngest was in Nipper from birth. I had same dilemma when expecting him because our Egg could convert but I felt the weight distribution would be off and that would make it harder to comfortably manoeuvre.
The Nipper is very light to push which mattered to us because it goes for countryside walks and along trails. It fits through a standard sized doorway. I think only the Mountain Buggy Duet was narrower when we were looking.

Mountain Buggy Duet. Buy secondhand to keep within budget. It's a wonderful buggy that's super easy to push, fits everywhere a single would and is great off road for countryside walks.

Like you we already had an iCandy (Apple) and decided against converting it to a double - partly due to cost but also how tricky it was to manoeuvre with the weight distribution in double mode.
