Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of this? Is it something to be worried about? Thanks so much for any information you could share!

One of my babies did this. I had completely forgotten about it. It terrified me at the time. It was always as he was falling asleep. Turn out to be totally benign normal thing and he is now a very normal 7 year old. Obviously get checked- try to take some videos and show them to your GP, or if more concerned re anything serious (breathing issues or suspect genuine seizures) try A&E or 111 - whatever you think is most appropriate.

My baby does a little shudder sometimes, looks like she’s doing a little shiver. After a lot of googling, I came across a mumsnet thread that talked about it and loads of people said their babies do it when they do a wee! It does seem to be that my little one does it when she does a wee, so I’m not concerned anymore. Obviously check with your GP though as the pp mentioned ☺️

It’s often a very early sign of sleepwalking. DSD and DS both did it and DSD is a complete sleep horror show - we have to lock the kitchen / front door in case she hurts herself. DS used to sleep walk but now talks in his sleep.

Oh gosh, that's interesting. My DS is a sleepwalker! Had no idea it was linked. He's gone all the way down 2 flights of stairs and used the kitchen cupboards as a urinal before 😱.

Hi OP

yes my daughter did it from age 6 months to around age 3.

She would shudder and sometimes look a bit absent.

We took videos and were referred to a neurologist who analysed the videos and said it was infant shuddering syndromes. Nothing to worry about but can come and go in phases.

shes grown out of it now. Shes 5.

id film it and get it checked

My daughter had this when she was tiny. Her head shuddered and she seemed to be absent. I filmed them and went to the GP. We got referred to the hospital and they actually did an EEG. She was absolutely fine. I think they just wanted to check as they were quite frequent. They stopped by a year old. I would get it checked at the GP though.

Interestingly, she has also slept-walked before. We’ve found her by the door before - sometimes crying but still asleep!
